Wayne Hammer was born in Newark and received a streetwise education growing up in the Jersey suburbs. At an early age, he began his study of music theory and the classics on an old spinet piano. Eventually, he made the transition to the Hammond organ, where he “hammered out” rhythm and blues with some of the area’s most popular bands. At sixteen, he debuted as a performing artist in nightclubs and staged venues and went on to compose music during the Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
With a degree from Rutgers University, Wayne entered the business world and established a career managing the design and construction of award-winning commercial buildings in Northern California. After he earned his Certified Facilities Management (CFM) credential, Wayne took a position as a consultant with an engineering firm and taught at the California State University, Sacramento College of Continuing Education.
During his leisure time, he turned a hobby into something more. With his German Shepherd dog, Nikko, Wayne twice competed at the World Championships in a canine sport called “Schutzhund” and won the first USA Schutzhund Championship.
From his home overlooking the Sonoran Desert, Wayne is now engaged as a full-time author. He followed his first published sci-fi novel, Shifts, with the newly released thriller, Senders. Wayne lives in Tucson, Arizona with his wife Sandy, a software engineer and mother of his two children, Sara and Jeff.
